Today, we’re releasing a number of enhancements to make Android’s hearing aid and screenreader experiences even more accessible.
Beginning with the Samsung Galaxy S25, we are extending the benefits of the next generation of Bluetooth to GN Hearing and Oticon Intent hearing aids via new LE Audio technology. People can now manage their hearing aids more easily thanks to LE Audio compatibility, which includes hands-free calling, the ability to change presets using native settings, and lower latency Bluetooth connections. This new integration will be accessible on the Pixel 9 with Android 16 beta, as well as the Galaxy S24 with Android 15 in the coming weeks.
And we’re starting to release new upgrades to TalkBack, Android’s screenreader, to make devices even more accessible to those who are blind or have impaired vision. Starting with Samsung Galaxy S25 devices, anyone who uses braille will be able to utilise their displays using HID, a method of connecting to Bluetooth devices. In the next months, this functionality will be available on any phone or tablet running Android 15. In the next weeks, TalkBack will deliver more precise image descriptions on Galaxy S25 smartphones using Gemini models.
Now you can change hearing aid presets directly from your Android device settings.
