By Apple seldom discloses the precise release date of its iPhone updates, but in the case of the upcoming one, iOS 18.5, it has given us enough hints to know that it is almost here. What we know is as follows.
One of the final major updates before iOS 19 is released this autumn is Apple iOS 18.5. The previous year’s timetable included iOS 6.6 at the end of July, iOS 17.6.1 in August, and iOS 17.7 in September in addition to iOS 18. This time around, a similar situation is highly likely.
What’s New in iOS 18.5?
The upcoming features are detailed in the release notes for the Release Candidate beta, which was released on Tuesday, May 6.
The Pride Harmony wallpaper, which can be found below, helped verify the release date. A new feature is that parents can now be notified when their child’s device uses the Screen Time passcode. You can now use your iPhone to pay for something: When buying content on a third-party device through the Apple TV app, the option to “buy with iPhone” is accessible. This update will address a problem where the companion app on your phone may show a black screen if you have an Apple Vision Pro.

Date of Release for iOS 18.5
As previously mentioned, Apple has already stated that the Pride Edition Apple Watch Sport Band will go on sale the week starting Monday, May 12, and that one component of the release, the Pride Edition wallpaper for the iPhone, will arrive in iOS 18.5. That essentially indicates that iOS 18.5 will be released simultaneously, and the Release Candidate beta, which debuted on Tuesday, May 6, provided additional proof. The week after is almost always when the general release takes place.
