A recent source claims that Google intends to make Android 16 available to the general public on Tuesday, June 3, 2025—yes, that is months earlier than usual.

Google has come to the realisation that releasing Android upgrades later in the year does not provide manufacturers enough time to create their own unique Android skins before the major phone launches at the end of the year. For example, Samsung wants its flagship Galaxy S-branded phones to receive the most recent updates as soon as they are released early in the year. Google’s decision to provide Android updates earlier in the year makes sense because Xiaomi and other significant smartphone makers want their flagship models to receive the most recent updates on day one as well.
All manufacturers will eventually get access to Android 16, but Pixel-branded smartphones and tablets will receive it first. The most recent build will be available for download and installation as early as Tuesday of next week if you own a Pixel phone or tablet that is compatible. The update will be accessible via the standard Settings app on your Pixel and will be offered as an over-the-air update.
Regarding what the update offers, customers will benefit from several enhancements and new features that enhance the user experience as a whole.
