The year 2022 is coming to an end, and several notable smartphones have been released in the country by companies such as Samsung, Apple, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and others.
The year has been incredible for tech enthusiasts, with Google launching its flagship Pixel devices in India for the first time after 2018, and Carl Pei-led Nothing launching its first Android phone. In addition, major launches in various price segments are expected in 2023.
Most major brands have already begun work on their flagship devices, and rumors and leaks about popular devices have begun.
Apple iPhone 15
Apple’s release of iPhone devices is one of the year’s most anticipated events, and the iPhone 15 is no exception. While the Cupertino company is expected to launch its flagship series in September 2023, information about the devices has already begun to circulate.
To launch the iPhone 15 Ultra, Apple is expected to make significant changes, such as using a USB Type-C port to comply with EU regulations, using solid-state buttons, and dropping the Max moniker.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
Following Apple, Samsung takes the stage for one of the year’s most significant launches. The Korean smartphone manufacturer will be among the first to release its flagship devices in 2023.
In February 2023, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S23 series, which will include the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. According to reports, the company will use only Snapdragon chipsets worldwide, implying that the devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which was announced last month.
Google Pixel 8
Google has also begun work on the Pixel 8 series. With the recent Pixel 7 series launch in India, we anticipate the company launching the next iteration of its flagship devices in the country.
Google is expected to launch the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones in India alongside a new chipset, most likely the Tensor G3, later this year. There isn’t much information available about the devices right now.
OnePlus 11
The OnePlus 11 is another intriguing flagship device set to be released in the coming months. The device has already been leaked, and we have an idea of what it might look like. The device is expected to have a large circular camera module and an alert slider on the back.
For its upcoming flagship series, the company is expected to drop the “Pro” moniker. The OnePlus 11 will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The battery is also expected to improve significantly, with the OnePlus offering a 5,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support.
Xiaomi 13 series
In the coming weeks, Xiaomi is expected to launch its Xiaomi 13 series, which includes the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphones, in its home country of China. The devices will arrive in India in 2023, either all at once or separately.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra was recently spotted on BIS, indicating that it will be released in India soon. Premium features such as a 2K E6 AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and 120W fast charging are expected. We anticipate that the device will be available in the country in the first half of 2023.
Samsung Galaxy Z series
In the second half of 2023, Samsung, the current market leader in the foldable segment, will release the successors to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable smartphones in India. It will be interesting to see how the Korean smartphone giant improves its foldable phones.
The next year’s foldable devices will be priced similarly to the current Galaxy foldable devices. While little is known about the next-generation foldable devices, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset is expected to power them.
Google Pixel Fold
Many companies are working on foldable phones, including Samsung. Google has been working on foldable phones for some time, and its first foldable device, the Pixel Fold, is expected to be released in May 2023.
The Pixel Fold will be powered by the Tensor G2 chipset and up to 12GB of RAM. It will most likely have a triple camera setup on the back and a 9.5MP selfie camera.
Vivo X90 Pro
The Vivo X90 Pro, the successor to the X80 Pro smartphone, is expected to be released in India in 2023. The X90 series has already been introduced in the company’s home country of China. It will be one of the few devices in India to use the Dimensity 9200 chipset.
The X90 Pro is powered by the Density 9200 chipset and has a Q9 OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It has a triple camera setup on the back with Zeiss T* coating and a selfie camera with 32MP resolution. The company has also improved fast charging, now supporting 120W charging.
