Smartphones to watch out for in August 2022

While the Indian smartphone market was dominated by two new smartphones at the end of July, the Nothing phone (1) and the Google Pixel 6A, we have a slew of new phones arriving in August. These include phones with high performance, such as the OnePlus 10T, and foldable novelties, such as the new Moto Razr 2022.

Here is a list of the top smartphones to look out for in August 2022.

When it is released, the OnePlus 10T is expected to be the most powerful Android phone released by any OEM, not just OnePlus. The smartphone reportedly has the highest AnTuTu score of over a million and will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, which is a newer, improved version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

According to leaks, the phone will also have a 6.7-inch 120Hz display, up to 16GB RAM, a 4660mAh battery with 150W fast charging, and a 50MP+8MP+2MP rear camera setup. It could debut with OxygenOS 12, which is based on Android 12.

The iQOO 9T will be the iQOO 9’s successor. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and other flagship-level features are expected to be included in the upgrade. The racecar-inspired design of the iQOO 9T, which we also saw on the iQOO 9 and iQOO 9 Pro, has already been revealed by iQOO.

According to reports, iQOO quill will provide 3 years of system updates and 4 years of security patches for the iQOO 9T, but this has yet to be confirmed. More information about the iQOO 9T will be available soon.

The Samsung Galaxy Z-lineup of foldable phones will receive its annual refresh in August of this year, with two new phones expected as usual. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the primary foldable here. According to reports, the Galaxy Z Fold will be more affordable this year and will include an entry-level 128GB storage variant.

This year, the phone is also expected to have a less visible crease on the larger inner screen, as well as a new design for the camera island that is similar to the S22-series design language. When opened, the phone is expected to measure 6.1 x 5.1 x 0.27 inches and be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

The Z-Flip series, considered the younger cousin of the Z Fold series, will also welcome the Z Flip 4 on August 10. This year, the new flipping smartphone will be available in four new colorways: graphite, pink gold, bora purple, and blue. A Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor is also expected to power the phone, as is a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display.

The phone will also have a 2.1-inch display, dual 12MP cameras, and a 10MP selfie camera. According to leaks, the phone will have a 3,400mAh or 3,700mAh battery with support for 25W wired and 10W wireless charging.

 

Moto Razr 2022 (August 2 in China)

The Moto Razr will be released in its third incarnation in August 2022. The company has already confirmed that the phone will be powered by a flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip this time, bringing it up to speed with its only other form factor competitor – the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 4.

A 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED folding screen, a 3-inch outer display, a 2,800mAh battery, and a 50MP rear and 32MP front camera are among the expected specifications.

The new Razr isn’t the only phone Motorola is working on; a high-end addition to the brand’s Edge 30-series is also on the way. The Moto Edge 30 Ultra will be the successor to the Edge 30 Pro and will feature a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The phone was recently discovered on Geekbench, where it was discovered to have 12GB RAM and Android 12.

The Edge 30 Ultra’s new 200MP primary camera sensor, which will reportedly be accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide and a 12MP portrait camera, will be another highlight. A 60MP front camera, 12GB RAM, and 512GB storage are also expected. The phone will be available in China on August 2 as the Moto Edge X30 Pro, and an India release date is expected also soon after.
