Android 16 is now available, and while there are already many exciting new features to explore, more are coming soon.

Thanks to Android Canary, Google’s brand-new method of delivering impending feature testing for Android, you can test out some of them right now. According to 9to5Google, a few tiny new features are included in the first Android Canary version. They sound good, but they aren’t very significant or revolutionary innovations. You ought to try these three.

1. Hide the AI button

The ability to conceal the AI button from the Pixel search bar that appears on your phone’s home screen is, in my opinion, the most alluring new feature in the most recent Android Canary release. Usually, there are only two buttons on the search bar: one for voice search and another for photo search. A new choice in the settings menu allows you to completely disable the third button that now starts AI mode, preventing you from ever accidently pressing it.

2. Enhanced HDR

The new “Enhanced HDR Brightness” toggle in the settings menu is meant to enhance image quality on devices that support HDR, however it’s unclear how much of an impact it will have. In particular, after turning this on, HDR content should seem brighter, as the name implies. This is a useful setting to have, providing it works, because HDR is fantastic when set up properly, but it can occasionally result in dimmer images.

3. A new, separate parental controls menu

Although the last one is more of a reorganisation of the settings menu than a new feature, there is now a separate “Parental Controls” section when none previously existed. The “Digital Wellbeing” option, which still exists, used to include parental controls, but it is now distinct from parental controls. Once more, it appears that there are currently no new parental control choices, but it’s good that this is now a distinct section of the settings menu.
