<p data-start="384" data-end="668">Google Maps is getting a new update that makes checking your commute even easier. According to a new report, Google will soon add a feature to the <strong data-start="531" data-end="561">main screen of Google Maps</strong> that automatically shows <strong data-start="587" data-end="628">how long it will take you to get home</strong> — without needing to open navigation.</p>
<p data-start="670" data-end="938">Currently, if you want to see your <strong data-start="705" data-end="740">estimated time of arrival (ETA)</strong>, you must tap the <strong data-start="759" data-end="769">“Home”</strong> button beneath the search bar and then view the route preview or start navigation. The process takes a few extra steps just to check how long your drive home will be.</p>
<p data-start="940" data-end="1222">That might soon change. According to Discord user <strong data-start="990" data-end="1002">winner00</strong> (via <em data-start="1008" data-end="1027">Android Authority</em>), <strong data-start="1030" data-end="1045">Google Maps</strong> will soon display your <strong data-start="1069" data-end="1112">ETA to home directly on the Home button</strong> below the search bar. This means you’ll instantly see your travel time at a glance, no extra taps required.</p>
<p data-start="1224" data-end="1394">The time indicator will also be <strong data-start="1256" data-end="1271">color-coded</strong> — green, yellow, or red — just like other ETAs on Google Maps, helping you quickly see if traffic is clear or congested.</p>
<div id="attachment_4013" style="width: 1010px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-4013" class="size-full wp-image-4013" src="https://tecrounder.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Google-Map.jpg" alt="Google-Map" width="1000" height="500" /><p id="caption-attachment-4013" class="wp-caption-text">Google-Map</p></div>
<p data-start="1396" data-end="1645">It’s a <strong data-start="1403" data-end="1429">small but handy update</strong> that will save users time and make commuting smoother. You’ll be able to <strong data-start="1503" data-end="1534">plan your trips or commutes</strong> more efficiently from work, school, or anywhere else, especially during busy hours when every minute counts.</p>
<p data-start="1647" data-end="1978">In addition to this, Google has started <strong data-start="1687" data-end="1729">integrating Gemini AI into Google Maps</strong>, replacing some functions of Google Assistant. This AI upgrade allows users to give <strong data-start="1814" data-end="1841">advanced voice commands</strong> (like avoiding toll roads) and receive <strong data-start="1881" data-end="1910">context-aware information</strong>, such as current weather conditions or nearby points of interest.</p>
<p data-start="1980" data-end="2127">So far, only one user has spotted the new <strong data-start="2022" data-end="2040">home time chip</strong> feature, but Google is expected to <strong data-start="2076" data-end="2124">roll it out to more users in the coming days</strong>.</p>
