Samsung Electronics revealed the Galaxy S26 series on February 25th at Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in San Francisco.
The Galaxy S26 series, the third generation of Samsung’s Galaxy AI phone, combines the most powerful performance in the Galaxy S series history with the most intuitive AI experience yet.
During Galaxy Unpacked 2026, the Samsung Newsroom received an early glimpse at the Galaxy S26 series.
Design: Sleeker and lighter than before.
The Galaxy S26 series offers a great first impression with its sleek, modern look, which includes rounded curvatures and a consistent colour palette that creates a coherent design identity throughout the lineup.
The thinner, lighter build is equally noticeable. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is 0.3 millimetres slimmer than its predecessor and weighs 214 grams. Its smaller design improves portability while still providing a secure, comfortable grip.
Display: Privacy from all angles.
Privacy Display, which debuted on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, inhibits side-angle viewing without requiring a supplemental screen protector. The display stays visible from the front while being obscured from the sides to protect on-screen material from adjacent viewers.
Users can additionally set the Privacy Display to the side button’s double-press function for further convenience. Even when seen from the side, the content remains hidden, making it particularly helpful on crowded public transportation or in lifts.
Galaxy AI: Intuitive AI For Everyone
Galaxy AI shines out among the Galaxy S26 series, providing greater contextual awareness with proactive suggestions to make routine chores easier.
The new Now Nudge feature minimises app switching by presenting important information in context. When a buddy enquires about evening plans via messaging applications, Galaxy AI examines the calendar, identifies conflicts, and shows a personalised “Nudge” pop-up.
Circle to Search, a popular favourite since its introduction on the Galaxy S24 series, now supports multi-element searches. Circling a celebrity’s attire, for example, results in handpicked goods to replicate the style.
Bixby, Gemini, and Perplexity are the latest additions to the Galaxy S26 series’ AI ecosystem. Users, for example, can alter settings using natural language commands, allowing them to easily handle their device even if they don’t know the particular setting names or commands. Saying “My eyes feel tired,” for example, enables Bixby to recommend enabling the Eye comfort shield, reducing the need to browse complex menus. These agents work together to comprehend user intent and context, streamlining daily tasks, minimising steps, and providing a smoother, more efficient mobile experience.
Camera: Pro-Level Capture, AI-Powered
The Galaxy S26 series represents another advancement in smartphone photography. The device, which is powered by powerful AI, allows for the seamless capture and editing of high-quality content without the need for experience.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra has a 200-megapixel (MP) wide-angle camera and a 50-megapixel (MP) telephoto camera with 5x and 10x optical-quality zoom, respectively, as well as a larger aperture for improved low-light clarity. Despite the limited lighting, a recreated San Francisco nightscape inside the exhibition hall appeared bright and detailed thanks to enhanced Nightography. The AI ISP (Image Signal Processor), which was previously used in the rear camera, now extends to the front camera, capturing small details like individual hair strands and brows while keeping natural skin tones.
Beyond capture, the Galaxy S26 series broadens creative possibilities. It uses Galaxy AI to deliver an intuitive environment that quickly converts ideas into final products.
The updated Photo Assist goes much farther, deleting undesirable objects and naturally integrating new ones. When asked to rebuild a cake with a bite out, AI reconstructs it as if it were undamaged. The function can also go from day to night mode or modify outfit details to match the atmosphere, allowing for faster, easier editing.
Using Creative Studio, modified photographs can be transformed into finished content. Simply typing a command — such as “Please draw me a dog” — generates a context-based sticker set that may be used in messages or when editing photographs. The functionality also supports invitations, profile cards, and backgrounds, which will expand future creative possibilities.
Beginning with the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy S series has heralded a new era of AI phones. Samsung presents the Galaxy S26 series, their third-generation AI phone, which provides personalised experiences that go beyond intent recognition. The Galaxy S26 series, which has the most powerful performance and intuitive Galaxy AI to date, marks a new era in mobile innovation.
