Samsung has extended its six-year update policy to its cheapest 5G phone.

If all went as planned, Samsung would be set to introduce the Galaxy S26 later this month. However, late-stage lineup revisions have pushed Samsung’s launch date forward by around a month. Meanwhile, as a rumour circulated last month, it may be prepared to bridge this gap with new products from its inexpensive line. The first phone, which is also Samsung’s cheapest 5G phone, has already entered the market with minor updates.

The Galaxy A07 5G appears to be identical to the previously released 4G-only edition, but Samsung claims a few noticeable differences. First and foremost, the 6.7-inch IPS LCD refreshes at 120Hz, up from 90Hz on the Galaxy A06 5G. The screen resolution and ugly U-shaped notch remain unchanged. The display is also said to have 800 nits of brightness in the maximum brightness setting.

In addition to the newish 120Hz display, the Galaxy A07 5G also supports six operating system upgrades. It will arrive with One UI 8 based on Android 16, which implies it will be supported until Android 22 (or whatever the next generation is named). This is in addition to the four years of support guaranteed for the Galaxy A06 5G, and even longer than the software updates promised for flagships like the OnePlus 15.

The inside contains a MediaTek Dimensity 6300, which is the same as the previous year. The option of 4GB or 6GB of RAM is repeated, however, Samsung appears to have removed the 64GB option in favour of a single 128GB storage configuration. You still have microSD expansion compatibility for up to 2TB. The 6,000 mAh battery stays unchanged, as does the 25W wired charging capability.

The design hasn’t altered much since last year, but there’s a new, sleeker side frame and a brighter light purple colour choice. Among other improvements, we see a new camera island around the rear cameras, but the sensors, including a 50MP primary, remain the same for another year.

Although the Galaxy A06 5G was accessible in the United States, there is currently no word on the Galaxy A07 5G’s release there. It is now featured on Samsung’s Thailand website and looks to be limited to a few Asian countries.

The 4GB variant costs 5,499 Thai Baht (~$175), whereas the 6GB variant costs 5,999 Baht (~$190). That is approaching the Galaxy A16’s zone; we expect the actual US costs to be significantly lower when the phone is actually released. However, we’re not sure when that will happen.
