If ChatGPT doesn’t function for you, don’t take it personally. OpenAI has said that there are difficulties. They began around 3 p.m. Eastern Tuesday, and reported problems grew rapidly. By 3:15 p.m., almost 10,000 cases had been reported.

We’re currently experiencing issues, OpenAI stated on its status page.

This implies that many people are unable to log in or participate in conversations, since OpenAI has reported two active difficulties. First, mistake rates have increased for ChatGPT and Platform users. “We have identified the issue, applied the necessary mitigations and are monitoring the recovery,” according to OpenAI.

Second, there are higher error rates for finetuning jobs. “We have identified that users are experiencing elevated errors for the impacted services,” the OpenAI spokesperson stated. The solution to this problem does not appear to be as advanced as “We are working on implementing a mitigation,” it stated.

OpenAI certainly has the difficulties in its sights, and several users, like myself, have discovered that logging in is possible, but the results are delayed or stuttering. On a free account, however, I discovered that the screen had stuck.

Although ChatGPT is a relatively new service, it has grown indispensable in many people’s lives, making this type of interruption acute.

After the outage occurred, Down Detector reported between 10,000 to 12,000 cases, which have since decreased to approximately 4,000 in the US. Outside the United States appears to be more of an issue. “Comments on Down Detector note that it’s down in the United States – which is my current experience, though it’s a little slow – and that it’s still not working internationally, with Hungary specifically mentioned,” Tech Radar commented, while noting that users in the United Kingdom who couldn’t get ChatGPT to work discovered that the problem was resolved when they used a U.S. VPN.

Tech Radar also tested several other VPNs. “It appears to be working in the United States, Ireland, Canada, India, and Poland, though the latter two are a bit slower to respond to queries,” he said.
